A Great Wedding Fair at Leicester's Premier Wedding Venue, The City Rooms

It seems like just yesterday that I was blogging about the wedding fayre that The City Rooms held last Autumn... Well here we are again only, this time, it is definitely Spring (I put the clock forward with both delight and dread: Spring was finally here but I lost a very important hour in bed!)

The very sweet Leah from Golden Apple Stationary was there (her only wedding fayre this year no less!), Digital Dreams videography were out in full force and, of course, a live performance from Adam Thomas and the Souljers to wake everyone up and have some fun! Even Mr Chris Denner made an appearence, wowsers!

We love the team at the City Rooms in Leicester as they're so upbeat and excited about what they do: weddings are such important and special things to be a part of and some suppliers unfortunately forget this. Their enthusiasm for what they do is catching and we always love working with them (especially now that the lovely Kelly has joined them as wedding coordinator.)

We treated visitors to a bit of Paolo Nutini, My Girl and a few other numbers... Short, sweet and surprising is our motto :) To our delight, we had a record nine enquiries on the day itself and several more have come in since!

Recommended Live Entertainment Supplier

We've been lucky enough to be chosen as the City Rooms' recommended live wedding entertainment supplier for the past few years so, if you're looking for wedding entertainment and are getting married there, check your date with us ASAP!

Thanks to Kelly, Keiran, Cherlynn and the team... Another fab fair, thank you for having us and look forward to performing at your next Wedding Event :)

p.s. for all you brides to be and planners out there, get yourselves over to Cherylynn's very lovely and extremely helpful wedding advice blog. Well done Mrs Pletschke!! :)

About The City Rooms

The City Rooms is a Georgian, Grade 1 listed banqueting venue with boutique rooms in the heart of Leicester city centre.

This stunning, historic venue attracts guests from all over the East Midlands and further afield. Built in 1792, it is a venue steeped in history, with many fascinating features, giving evidence of the original plans for the building to become the premier hotel in Leicester. Used primarily as a venue to hold events, The City Rooms is also now open as first intended over two hundred years ago. The four lavishly decorated boutique bedrooms are one of the best kept secrets in the city centre.

The Leicester Wedding Club

Adam and I recently attended the newly formed Leicester Wedding Club which took place at The City Rooms in Leicester city centre; the club is the brainchild of Leah Spicer who owns a lovely stationery company called Golden Apple. Having attended various networking events, she really wanted to attend something which was specifically wedding related... when she couldn’t find anything she decided to set up her own club!

The first event was a huge success and Leah was totally bowled over by the number of us that attended! It’s certainly the first time that we’ve ever had to queue to get into The City Rooms! It was a lovely opportunity to meet up with a few people that we already knew and a great opportunity to meet with new people in the business. There were too many people to mention all in one post so, if you would like to see a full list of the attendees, visit their facebook page here: Leicester Wedding Club’s site. We do however have a couple of people to mention here and I may well do a complete write up on them in a forthcoming blog post… so watch this space.

First off is Ricky Dicky Cards: we’re a big fan of his, firstly because he is so funny (and he lets us take the mickey out of him!) but secondly because he’s a fantastic graphic designer who specialises in stationery. We think his designs are really original and love his passion and enthusiasm for what he does.

Secondly we must mention the girls from Save the Date: the magazine is a relatively new concept for Weddings and Events in the East Midlands and our meeting with Lydia and Abbi was short but very sweet. May I also just say that they’re very glamourous ladies who put all of us to shame! They were on their way to the “Rock n Roll Bride party in London (which all you Twitterers out there will know is quite a big deal!) We hope to be able to work with lots them in the future.

Like I said, there’s far too many to mention here, but we’ll certainly be checking in with a few more in future blog posts and hopefully meeting again at the next Leicester Wedding Club event. We’re really looking forward to it Leah!

Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire for Sam and Marcus Gale

Lovely venue, lovely couple, lovely day!

Last Saturday we performed at the lovely Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire for Sam and Marcus and we had a really great time!

A stunning venue

Having performed at Prestwold Hall before, it is a venue that we are now very familiar with and a venue that we always look forward to performing at. We always find the staff to be professional and friendly, the food is of the highest standard and the venue and grounds, with so many wonderful views and stunning features, are to die for!

A Special Request from the FOTB

Adam was kindly asked by Sam and Marcus if he could perform one of the most requested songs ever, Elton John's classic,'Your Song.' It was, however, their second dance that got most of the guests talking: a surprise request from the father of the bride to his daughter and son-in-law, Heartland's 'I Loved Her First.' A very emotional and heartfelt song and, I must be honest, whilst Adam was learning the song it really hit me too... a really beautiful song.

They say...

Prestwold Hall and its stunning gardens provide the perfect venue for civil weddings and wedding receptions. The Hall is available for exclusive use only, which ensures that your day is truly unique and memorable.

Up to 175 guests can be accommodated for a wedding breakfast with excellent menus and a fantastic wine list tailored to your individual needs.

Prestwold Hall is registered to hold civil ceremonies in the library for up to 150 guests. There is a Church of England church within the Prestwold Estate where it is often possible to hold a wedding ceremony.

A chauffeur-driven Bentley is available for use on your wedding day.

PC Vanilla Ice?

They say that you're only as good as your audience and that could definitely be said of the lively bunch that we performed to on Saturday! We had a real mix of young and old and this made for a diverse evening of musical tastes, with a special appearance by a guy named Gareth (real name Steve!? Don't ask!!) as Vanilla Ice! It was like the Ice Man himself was actually in the room with us, he was that good! I dread to think how many hours went into actually learning the song in the first place! :)

The worst thing about Gareth is that, Adam spent the entire evening watching him and hoping that he didn't do anything serious for a living: it actually turns out that he's a police officer!! From this day forth I won't have it said that police officers are boring!!

Swing & Soul Wedding Singer

For their Wedding Entertainment the new Mr and Mrs Gale booked Adam to perform his Swing & Soul Solo Show and also chose to include the Wedding Disco too.

Adam performed all of his usual crowd pleasing favourites including 'Haven't Met You Yet,' 'Save The Last Dance,' 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and Michael Buble's 'Everything' as the bride and groom's second dance with the remainder of the wedding party. Swing and Big Band first half over - phew!

Act Two got the party into full swing as Adam kept them all going with a blend of Soul, Indie and Pop tracks such as 'My Girl,' 'This Love, and ' 'Mercy'. Adam also added some new-ish tracks this week: Cee-Lo Green's 'Forget You' and his Old Pop Medley Mix containing Maroon 5's 'This Love,' Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' and Adam's very unique version of Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl.' They all proved to be brilliant floor fillers! :)  *these tracks will be released on a new Soul & Pop album coming very soon!*
